Our Catchment Area ( posted on Jan 30, 2012 )

Please be advised that we have reduced our catchment area significantly.  This has been in response to our patient satisfaction survey results, where patients have asked for an improvement in the continuity of care they receive.

We now stop at Durrington Lane/Durrington Hill, rather than including all of West Durrington and going up to Titnore Lane.

This will be for all new patients and existing patients that move out of the area.

We hope this will improve the situation for our existing, registered patients.

Your Feed Back Is Really Important ( posted on Sep 15, 2011 )

The patient advisory group have been working really closely with St Lawrence Surgery to develop a survey.  We would really like to know what we are doing well and where we need to improve.  Once we have enough response we will then work together to develop an action plan to address the areas of development and we will publish the findings on the website and in the surgery.

Please could you spend 10 minutes of your time completing this survey for us either by clicking on this link or by completing a hard copy version available in the surgery.

Thank you so much for your support with this.

Do you have repeat medication? ( posted on Aug 11, 2011 )

If you have repeat medication, why not ask the receptionist to send your prescriptions to a pharmacy of your choice?

This will save you time going to reception and then waiting for your prescription. Instead you can go straight to our Dispensary or a pharmacy of your choice.

If you order your prescriptions on-line just type in the pharmacy of your choice and we will do the rest.

Tuesday Coffee Mornings ( posted on Aug 4, 2011 )

The Patient Participation Group will be hosting monthly Tuesday coffee mornings for all of our patients.  This will be held in the Education room at the surgery.

These meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month from 10.00 a.m. - 12 noon. There will be a theme each month.

The first one is being held on Tuesday 6th September and Dr James Read will be holding a Q&A at 11:00 so get your questions ready.

All are welcome.  Please visit the Patient Participation Group page on this website or our facebook page for more information.

Responding to Patient Feedback ( posted on Jul 20, 2011 )

When we reviewed our patient survey results, we noted that patients said they could overhear the receptionists in the main office whilst they were sitting in the waiting room.

We have responded to this by building a double glazed wall behind the reception desk, thereby shutting off the sound from the main office.

We hope this will be much quieter for our patients whilst waiting for the Doctor or Nurse and will protect patient confidentiality.

Thank you for your feedback.

St Lawrence Surgery Moving Towards Green ( posted on Jun 28, 2011 )

Recently St Lawrence Surgery commissioned Tom Mannings to undertake an environmental audit to assess their carbon footprint and suggest recommendations for moving towards a greener surgery.

A patient survey conducted, showed that the miles that patients were travelling to attend the surgery, equated to 1.7 times around the world per year!

We aim to reduce this by ensuring that our patients know they can book telephone consultations with their own GP, contact the surgery for telephone advice from the Duty Doctor or Nurse and encourage patients to use public transport or walk to the surgery when possible.

We are providing a bench outside the front of the entrance of the surgery to enable patients to cool down if they have had a long walk and bicycle racks are also provided.  Hooks have also been provided to the front of the entrance for securing electric buggies or tying your dog up if you have walked to the surgery.

Other areas that St Lawrence Surgery would like to improve on are reducing utility bills and encouraging staff to travel to work on bicycles and using public transport.

We aim to review our carbon footprint in one years time and would appreciate your support and help in this.  If you have any other suggestions please let us know.

If you would like to know more about this report or how you can personally help reduce your carbon footprint, you can contact Tom on tmnnngs247@gmail.com
